Alpha

What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of interactive sessions to discuss the big questions of life and the message of Jesus in an informal, fun and friendly environment. Alpha consists of 14 talks over eleven Thursday evenings and one Saturday. These look at topics including ‘Who is Jesus?’ and ‘Why and how do I pray?’. Each session starts with drinks and a cooked meal. After watching a short talk, there is plenty of time for discussion and questions together.

You don’t have to come for the whole term – just pop along for the first session and see what you think. No pressure.

Who is Alpha for?

Alpha is for everyone; no question is out of bounds and you are free to discuss as much or as little as you wish. We don’t assume any background knowledge of or belief in Christianity and everyone is welcome.

When and where?

Our next Alpha Course begins on 25th September 2025. It will take place over eleven weeks on consecutive Thursday evenings in the wonderful setting of the Make & Brew coffee shop at St James Road Methodist Church.

There will also be an Away Day on a Saturday 8th November. During this pivotal time we shall take a deep dive into a number of sessions relating to the Holy Spirit.
