Baptism
Infant Baptism
After the birth of a child, it is often quite natural to want to mark the baby’s arrival with gratitude and celebration. In our Christian context we believe that gratitude is offered to God as the one who has created the child. Baptism is a Sacrament in the Church which welcomes your child into the family of God, His Church, based on the promises of faith made by you as parents. You promise to bring your child up in the Christian faith.
Thanksgiving for the birth of a child
The Church offers a Thanksgiving Service as an alternative to infant baptism. In the Thanksgiving Service:
- Parents come to give thanks to God for the gift of their child.
- It does not include the sprinkling of water on the baby that baptism does, but instead the Minister lays hands on the baby as a blessing.
Believers Baptism
Baptism for those who have come to believe in Jesus for themselves and made a conscious choice to follow Him in everyday life. This can be at any age.
Weddings
The two shall become one. – Mark 10 v8
We offer a wedding service that enables you to celebrate with loved ones.
In Church you will make your promises and vows not only in the presence of your friends and family, but also in the presence of God. This adds a different dimension to the day as you are engaging in a spiritual and sacred ceremony.
Funeral or Thanksgiving Service
We offer a personal and individual service to celebrate the lives of those who have died which includes Christian prayer and reflection, Bible readings and songs. In recent times people describe the service as a Thanksgiving Service rather than the more formal sounding ‘funeral’ service. A Thanksgiving Service gives thanks to God for the life of the deceased person and the congregation join together in thanksgiving for the way the person has been a part of their lives. The church is also able to provide space to offer refreshments and a space to catch up with friends after the service.
